Because of the arctic weather and certain power plants being offline across the state, CPS Energy was asked this morning to initiate rolling brownouts. So if you’re been without power for a while, that’s what is going on. The brownouts are expected to last 45 minutes at a time, but we’ve heard from some people on Twitter that they’ve lasted two or more hours.
There’s a key bit of information regarding your home’s heating system. If you lose power, make sure and turn your heater OFF. That way, when power is restored, your circuit isn’t overloaded and you lose power again. Meanwhile, for everyone else who still has power, you’re asked to try and use as little energy as possible until we get through this situation.
