You’ve probably heard about all the rebates you can get for making energy-efficient upgrades to your home. Most of those rebates expire at the end of the year. But one – a very important one – does not. I’m talking about the CPS Energy rebate for air duct replacement in your home. You can save up to $2,500 with this particular rebate.
Unfortunately, many people end up wasting money buying a new AC unit when what they really need is to fix what’s going on in the attic. We’ve blogged several times in the past about this – and really can’t convey how key it is. Poor air duct systems are the number one cause of air loss, which leads to your AC or heater working harder, which leads to higher energy bills. No one wants that.
So here’s what you can do. Take a peek up in your attic – now’s the perfect time with the cooler weather. Your ducts should be up against the roof with plenty of attic insulation on the floor. If your ducts are on the floor of the attic or tangled and kinked (like the picture below), that’s a bad sign.
