Thanksgiving is just around the corner! Whether you’re cooking up a plump turkey, a sweet ham or a healthy tofurkey substitute, you’re going to be spending a lot of time in the kitchen. Holiday gatherings are notorious for energy waste – and we’re not talking about tryptophan naps! Here are a few great ways to save energy this Thanksgiving!
In the Kitchen
Avoid needless energy waste from the oven. Turn on the oven light to avoid peeking in every so often to check on the progress. Also, with a little planning ahead of time, you can cook several items at once. This is a time and energy saver! Not opposed to a little microwave cooking? Microwaves use about half the energy your oven does.
In the Family Room
More people means more body heat! The energy-efficient thing to do with a full house is to set your thermostat closer to the temperature outside. With all of the cooking, talking and hot chocolate sipping going on, it’s sure to stay cozy! Want to save even more energy? Pop in ‘A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving’ for all to enjoy. Nobody will move from his or her seat!
We hope you enjoy a very happy, safe and warm Thanksgiving! If you find yourself in need of a heater repair, give Champion AC a call!
