Why is My AC Rattling?
When your air conditioner starts to make loud and funny noises, it can be a sign that it needs some attention. As a homeowner, hearing your AC rattling can be troubling and stressful. The panels that house the condenser can become loose from screws that weren’t screwed in tight enough after repair. When an AC unit is working, it vibrates. These vibrations are what cause the screws to come loose. A simple fix in the mounting of the screws can ease your loud air conditioner.
- Poor installation or improper AC repair is another big issue that causes a noisy AC. If the refrigerant level is too high, it can cause problems that may damage destroy the compressor.
- Sometimes the misalignment of the blower can cause a rattling noise. If this is the case, a technician should assess the motor assembly because this can cause damage to the unit.
All in all, a rattling sound may not mean an expensive AC repair is headed your way. A simple tightening of a screw or a spring cleaning can ease the noise and your mind.
