If you’re like most people in Texas, your air conditioner is your lifeline during the summer months. And if you use it constantly during the summer, you’re probably pretty familiar with some common problems your AC faces. While trying to fix the problem yourself is doable, make sure to have your AC repair service professional on speed dial incase you start second guessing yourself in the middle of one of these solutions.
Not cooling properly
It can be frustrating when your AC isn’t cooling down your home – especially when it’s getting hotter inside than it is outside. If you notice that your AC isn’t cooling down your house, there could be a few different reasons that’s happening. Sometimes the problem can be as simple as flipping a switch or changing an air filter. Other times it can be as serious as a broken fan or a coolant leak. So if it seems serious, or you aren’t sure what to do, calling a professional for your AC repair is your best option.
Frozen AC
If you notice that your AC is frozen, don’t stress out too much. While professional AC repair services are always a great option, you may be able to fix the issue yourself – or at least attempt to. Start by turning off your AC and the fan. Once it’s thawed out, wipe off the unit and dry off the coils to ensure it doesn’t freeze again. If those steps don’t fix the problem, or the problem persists, call a professional so they can look into air conditioner repair.
Clogged drain line
Because of the water that flows through the drain, blockages are commonly caused by mold or algae. The result of a clogged drain line can end up being an emergency AC repair call, so to avoid that it’s best to get your AC serviced regularly. But if you have a bad feeling about a clogged drain, here are some steps to take to check it out. First, turn off your HVAC system. Next, locate the drain line access points. After that, measure out 1 cup of hot water and pour it down the drain. If the water flows through the drain, you’re in the clear. But if the water comes out the way you put it in, you have a problem.
