If you have an indoor air quality system in your home, you’re probably wondering what role, if any, it plays in the protection against COVID-19, or the Coronavirus.
The short answer is an honest answer: We don’t know, and we wouldn’t count on it playing a role against COVID-19 until testing confirms as much.
Whole home air purification systems do provide you with the cleanest possible air inside your home. Many of the systems, including our Indoor Air Care package here at Champion Home Services, promise to reduce up to 99% of indoor air particulates, odors, VOCs and other airborne pathogens. This is known because of extensive testing against the normal pollutants and particles in our home.
These systems, however, have not yet been tested against COVID-19 – therefore we’re taking the extra step to caution homeowners against assuming an indoor air purification system will protect you against this virus.
Many hospitals also install air purification systems like these, and the manufacturers are confident testing will show they help reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19. Until testing shows that to be the case, we want to be as honest and upfront with our homeowners as possible.
Here’s what we do know. Investing in an indoor air quality system means your family will breathe the cleanest air possible inside your home. If you are interested in one of these products, please let your Champion Home Services representative know. You can also visit our indoor air quality page for more details.
