All this week on Twitter and Facebook, we’re doing a Clean Air Quiz. The first question has already generated a “Really?!” response.
Clean Air Quiz #1: True or False – Trees are a bigger source of pollen than flowers.
It’s true, tree pollens cause many of the biggest allergy problems around the country. In fact, most spring-time allergy problems are related to trees, especially here in south Texas. Think about it. What’s the one allergy that usually has people sniffling and sneezing here? Mountain cedar – which comes from juniper trees!
Okay, so what can you do to cut down on the allergens in your home? We’ve already talked about things like indoor air purification systems and regularly changing your air filter. But there are other things you can do – like keeping your windows closed from 5am-10am, which is when pollen counts are the highest. Other experts suggest showering at night and washing your hair, so the pollens don’t make it to your bed.
So many people I’ve met say they never had allergy problems before moving to San Antonio. Every little tip to avoid sniffling and sneezing helps!
