(From all of us at Champion Home Services, we wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holidays! Here’s a note from our social media manager, Dale Blasingame. – Ben)
I was one of those poor souls who spent time last night at the mall. I’m not proud of it, but I had to wrap up some last-minute odds and ends.
As I was going from store to store, I couldn’t help but notice how angry or stressed everyone seemed. It was no better in the parking lot. Actually, it was worse in the parking lot. I saw at least one person get the one-finger salute, if you catch my drift.
Someone asks this question every year, so it might as well be me – but is this really what the holidays are all about?
I frustrated my family this year because I couldn’t give them a suitable answer to that standard question: “What do you want for Christmas?” I wasn’t trying to be difficult, I just really couldn’t think of an answer they wanted. Truthfully, all I want for Christmas is to watch the Cowboys game with my dad. That will be a great Christmas present. I want to have a nice, quiet dinner with my girlfriend. That will be a great Christmas present. I want my parents to be able to walk around and not be in pain. That would be a great Christmas present.
I’m not quite sure you can wrap those presents and put them under any tree.
So I guess my Christmas wish is that we all take a deep breath, relax and remember why we’re out running around and buying gifts. It’s because someone is special in our lives. Not letting the stress get to us won’t cure cancer or create world peace, but it may cut down on the one-finger salutes in the mall parking lots.
Have a Merry Christmas!
