If you were up around midnight, it was hard to miss the cold front that blew through San Antonio. The winds were incredible, and the temperatures dipped low enough for me to finally turn on my San Antonio heating system for the first time. I’m sure I wasn’t alone in doing that.
The cold front was strong enough to prompt a freeze warning for Bexar County and 14 surrounding counties tonight. This would be the first freeze of the season, which is most likely to occur in the Hill Country area. Lows in San Antonio are expected to reach 35 degrees.
Homeowners are always reminded about protecting the Three Ps during freeze warnings: pets, pipes and plants. Pets and sensitive plants should be kept inside during the nighttime hours, and preventative action (letting water slowly drip) should be taken to protect pipes from freezing.
